Please could all swimmers/parents who train at Tollcross note that swimmers must never leave their belongings, even just for a few minutes, in unattended cubicles or open lockers. This applies at all times of the day no matter how busy the venue is or whether there is public access or not. Please do not place your belongings in a cubicle and then disappear for a shower or to your training session. Always take all of your belongings in a bag on to poolside or leave them in a securely fastened locker.

In addition, during the use of the training pool, in the evening sessions where there is high public use for lessons and general swimming, COGST swimmers should use the showers and cubicles in the main training village, where the staff will open up several aisles for this purpose. At morning training, the changing area and showers adjacent to the pool should be used.

TIME TRIALS

Scotstoun Leisure Centre

Warm up 7am, start 7.15am, finish 8.45am (approx).

The club will be running Time Trials from 7am until 8.45am at Scotstoun Leisure Centre.

This will provide a competitive opportunity for swimmers to get timed for the first time or to improve their times in order to gain entry to more competitions.

Due to limitations on lane space it is open to all swimmers in Junior Foundation, Junior Development 1 & 2 and Club Squads only, unless otherwise advised by your coach.

Swimmers in these squads from all COGST pools i.e. Scotstoun, Maryhill, Drumchapel, Springburn, Gorbals, Tollcross may come along.

We will be running a variety of events.

Your Coach will tell you which events you should swim, but to get the most benefit from Time Trials, please swim events which you do not have a current up to date time for. You can swim three events.

We will be running more Time Trials throughout the season when we will cover other strokes and distances.

All swimmers should bring a spare towel and T shirt to dry off and keep warm between swims.

To ensure all swimmers are able to be timed we will need some parents to help on poolside as timekeepers. You don’t need any experience so if you are able to help please send your details to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or just come forward on the day.

Parents of swimmers attending the East Lothian Novice Meet this afternoon we have just been notified that the afternoon warm up time has been brought forward to 1pm . This is a change from the previous time of 1:30pm.

Please pass on to any other parents you know with swimmers attending .

We apologise for the short notice but the club coaches attending the meet today have just been informed by the meet organisers.

Thirty-four swimmers from Glasgow based universities travel to Sheffield today for the 2017 British Universities & Colleges Championships this weekend.

Fifteen of the group are part of City of Glasgow Swim Team's elite training squad under the guidance of Head Performance Coach Ian Wright. The competition is the first serious long course meet of the season for many and will provide a good measure of how the winter training has been going.

Among those from Glasgow aiming for medals at the Ponds Forge pool will be 2016 Olympian Camilla Hattersley, World Championship finalist Craig McNally, European Junior athlete Ryan Brown and 2017 Deaflympics contender Jack McComish.

Across the group the following institutions will be represented: University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, University of the West of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University.

City of Glasgow Swim Team works in partnership with Scottish Swimming, Glasgow Life and all four of these universities to deliver one of the best university swimming programmes in the UK. Keep up with all the action from Sheffield this weekend by clicking on this link http://www.bucsswimming.org.uk/lc17/

Apologies for this but it is outwith our control.

Can all parents please make sure that your coach has arrived and that everything is ready for the session to go ahead before leaving your child at training.

This is particularly important while we are training at various centres during the relocation out of Tollcross.

All members were sent a letter in early January reminding them that their Club membership renewal payment was due by 31st January. This is to ensure continued membership of the club, Scottish Swimming and provides the insurance necessary to allow members to train and compete.

We agreed a date of 31st January to allow the admin processes to be completed before the registration info and payment is due to be sent to Scottish Swimming at the end of February.

Unfortunately a number of members have not made this payment and are now at risk of losing their membership of the club and the ability to train and compete.

We will not be renewing membership for any members who have not paid their membership fee. The result will be that you will no longer be able to train or compete.

If you wish to avoid this happening, please make your payment of £60 now by sending a cheque to the office:

City of Glasgow Swim Team
Glasgow Sport
Emirates Arena
1000 London Road
Glasgow
G40 3HY

or by bank transfer:

BANK: Bank of Scotland
ACCOUNT NAME: City of Glasgow Swim Team
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 00198975
SORT CODE: 80 07 85
REFERENCE: REG-Swimmers Name

As you may know, due to some required remedial work, Tollcross and Scotstoun will experience a partial closure over the next few months.

Members are invited to a drop-in information evening at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Altyre Suite between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday 31st January.

Members will receive information on the 'part closure' of Tollcross and the changes this will have on squads in City of Glasgow Swim Team.

This will be an opportunity to ask further questions about ‘part closure’ of Tollcross and Scotstoun.
