Saturday 3rd December 2005 saw a very busy day at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow for the West District AGM.

The new President: John Anderson, was installed and the retiring President: Lois Cairney, gave a review of her time in office and thanked all concerned for making her role enjoyable.

City of Glasgow was presented with the Mary Black trophy for achieving the most points at the Districts throughout the season and the Jessie Waldie trophy for the most points achieved at the Scottish Age Groups.

Sarah MacLean won the James Wallace trophy for the best Junior Swimmer in the District and Katie Spalding won the David Rennie trophy for the best individual swim at the Districts during the season. Congratulations to all!

The meeting ended on a high note with Norah Finnegan winning a much  appreciated raffle prize. It was good to see a well attended meeting and to hear that the District is running well and is supportive of all clubs in all disciplines.

Welcome to our updated website

Unless it is your first visit here you will have noticed a few changes.

Our new site is aimed at getting information out from the club faster than ever before and also allowing members to interact in various ways with coaches, committee members and each other.

There is a tutorial which is designed to help you quickly understand the new features and get the most from the site.

Huge congratulations to our very own Rebecca Hillis who won the Glasgow Young Sportsperson of the Year Award.

Rebecca, 15, who lives in the west end, won a gold medal at last year's Junior Commonwealth Games in Australia.

She said: "I was quite shocked. I didn't expect it. My mum came to the awards ceremony with me and we had a really great night."

Well done Rebecca - The whole club is very proud of you!!

TIME TRIALS

Scotstoun Leisure Centre

Saturday 27th September 2014

Warm up 7am, start 7.15am, finish 8.45am (approx).

The club will be running Time Trials from 7am until 8.45am at Scotstoun Leisure Centre.

This will provide a competitive opportunity for swimmers to get timed for the first time or to improve their times in order to gain entry to more competitions.

Due to limitations on lane space it is open to all swimmers in Junior Foundation, Junior Development 1 & 2 and Club Squads only, unless otherwise advised by your coach.

Swimmers in these squads from all COGST pools i.e. Bellahouston, Scotstoun, Maryhill, Drumchapel, Springburn, Gorbals, Tollcross may come along.

We will be running a variety of events.

Your Coach will tell you which events you should swim, but to get the most benefit from Time Trials, please swim events which you do not have a current up to date time for. You can swim three events.

We will be running more Time Trials throughout the season when we will cover other strokes and distances.

All swimmers should bring a spare towel and T shirt to dry off and keep warm between swims.

To ensure all swimmers are able to be timed we will need some parents to help on poolside as timekeepers. You don’t need any experience so if you are able to help please send your details to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or just come forward on the day.
